did you try to take the lock apart?
it should not be very difficult to adapt the lock to your door/ignition key!

a cosy saturday afternoon by the livingroom fire in norway? i suggest...

knorburg: takk for tips, jeg skal sjekke!

inspector: hmmm, i did not know this was possible, i will try this! :D

usually these locks are quite simple, i have done it several times with door or ignition-locks, so a glove compartment lock should not be more difficult.
wehn you take the cylinder apart, be aware of little springs in the piston (do you call that piston??) that push the small locking plates in position. these locking plates (maybe 4-5) are made of brass and when you put in a key (that matches the horizontal structure) inside you see how the plates come up and down.
easy way would be to simply grind down the overstanding parts of the locking plates. nicer way is to shuffle the plates around so they match the key. for this you may need some extra locks for the plates that you need.
the super-easy way is to take out all existing lockin plates. but then you can open the lock with any key... which should not be so severe with a glove compatment.
any quetschns ( blink ) may be posted here...
good luck

smile

why don't you unfix the other part of the lock. isn't there a possibility to this through the rear seats section?
Held og lykke!

ouch!
i had misunderstood you!
i thought you were talking about the glove-compartment in the dash-board. were talking about the trunk.... shi... ther i see why you have troubles getting insde....

my best tip for that would be to collect as many old opel keys you can find and try with shaking and rutteling (is this english???) to get the lock open.
once you have turned the cylinder you can take it apart!!

good luck

Geschrieben von kammiz am 25.10.07 um 11.38:

inspector: does this mean i cannot modify the lock to the trunk?

Geschrieben von inspector.kadett am 25.10.07 um 11.52:

no or yes...
the principle is the same, it is just a l i t t l e bit harder to get the lock out. you need a special tool to unsrew the lock since there is a screw around the lock in which yo need to get in with two little fingers, you can make this tool yourself with a pipe that fits around the lock and then grind it off so you only leve two little fingers opposing each other.

we had fotos here to describe this tool

es gab hier mal fotos wie dieses spezialwerkzeug zum ausbau des kofferraumschlosses auszusehen hat, kann die wer ausgraben???

i see! i will try this smile but when i get the lock of the trunk it will be just as easy to modify the lock ?

Geschrieben von nobrakes am 25.10.07 um 15.35:

kammiz!!! ikke lag deg vankeligheter som ikke finnes nå grinsssss det er kjempelett å modde låsen når du har fått den ut fra lokket.. bare ha den over ei avis eller no når du åpner den, så ingen deler forsvinner Wink 2 sorry for antwort in norwegian, but its the only way for me to make kammiz understand what i mean smile

grrrr i am also looking for words (piston???) blink

danke gert für das foto!!!

i did it with the back door of my caravan and with several door locks, the system ist always the same:
detach the locking system from the lock (mostly a metal finger or some kind of strong wire.
in the cylinder from the back you will find a a inner ring-like spring you have to take out with a screw driver. then you can push the locking piston out.
this "piston has the small plates inside we were talking about.

i have never done it with a limousine trunk lock so if you come over some troubles dont worry
post some pictures where you got stuck im sure we find a solution

maybe i can also find you a lock with key in my collection (of rubbish) but that means hours of searching....)

but there are more profound car wreckers than me who can maybe helb you (ask smeagol directly)

Geschrieben von kammiz am 26.10.07 um 13.30:

thank you inspector og tusen takk arnstein! hehe

i will try to modify my lock. i think i will get it out without braking it ;)

Geschrieben von kammiz am 14.11.07 um 20.08:

it seems like grinding down the plates is the easiest way smile i picked the lock apart today, but i havent managed to get the plates out.

Geschrieben von inspector.kadett am 14.11.07 um 22.13:

you can just pull them out with little resistance, without braking it.
some locks the plate is secured by a light "hammer hit" on the top of the slot they are fitted in, so there you have your "light resitance" more or less... its tricky sunday afternoon work.
if you have managed to take the lock apart, let it rest where it is and continue tomorrow
you know, clean the pieces, clean your fingers, clean your throat salut , rest, go on the next day

but as you said, grinding them down is much easier than puzzling them around, and then, just to find out you have to grind anyway...
so : take your favorite key and grind on!!

fun
