RE: 1,1 motor
Hi Big-Elch,
and thank You for your tip.
I have now read the thema that You hav linked, and I wonders where to find the information about that from motornumber 1400001 has the 1,1N 50 instead of 45 HP. Is this 100% sure? I thought that from modellyear 1972 had every 1,1N 50 HP. Maybe all of the 1972 modells have motors with numbers above 1400001? Have any of You in this forum an original early 1972 modell 1,1N whith of course dobbel Pipe in front and 2 silencers. Can You tell me What motornumber You have?
I wonders because I have a late 1,1N 1971 model with motornr.12..... and a spare 1,1N motor with dobbel manifold with motornr. 13.....
Can anybody tell me what Motornr. they have in Early 1972 modells?
Thank You in adwance.
Best regards Scaig-one.

RE: 1,1 motor
Hi Morten!
It seems that both of your engines are not 1,1liter engines.
if your engine shows the number 12 followed by numbers it is probably an engine 12N (55hp) from the kadett c. (no N needed in the number)
If you have a motornumber 12S (60hp, higher compression, only superpetrol!) follwed by numbers it might be an engine from kadett B but must not be (can be younger).
The engine number 13 and something derives from a vauxhall chevette(great britain) which is similar to the Kadett c with different front (like the Manta)
As I have read in the thread mentioned by big-elch the difference between 50 and 55 hphas only 2 substantial changes:
1. the 2-pipe manifold (hosenrohr)
2. a different camshaft with different valve timing.
to complete these changes opel installed a second silencer at the rear end (End-topf) and a new distributor. What exactly the distributer does in this case I don?t know... but it?s the same they used ever after in the OHV-engines.
All these informations are about german inland production, I know there has been a 1500ccm engine for some countries and a 1,0 S engine for italy, but no idea about these data, sorry.
hope to help
write more if you find out about some characteristics of the chevette engine
