  Opel Eigentümer USA

Hallo, ich gestehe 3 Opel hier in den USA habe ich gerade gekauft meine Frau ein Kadett Caravan 1967 für uns in Ordnung bringen. Es hat eine 1,1-Motor und Blattfedern hinten. Ich besitze auch ein 1975 Opel Ascona mit 1,9 und mein Sohn besitzt einen 1974 Opel Manta luxus mit einem 1,9.

Not too many Kadett Caravans in the U.S. especially the ones with the 1.1 L motor. Most came with the 1.9 L motor here. Most of the 1.1 Kadetts became parts cars for the 1.9 drivers.

All will be daily drivers. The Ascona is my daily driver now and the Manta is my sons first car. He is not able to drive yet so it will not be on the road till next year sometime. The Caravan has some motor problems that I will be trying to work out. Hopefully it will be running next year too.

What is not OK with the 1,1 engine? In general they are very reliable and easy to handle. If carb, ignition and admission system is OK, it should run properly.

Barny,
We we told that they parked it because it had a conneting rod knocking. It had been sitting for 6 years before we bought. It shows 44,000 miles (not kilometers). I would believe it to be 144,000 miles.

The large bumps will grow on you. At one time I liked the smaller bumpers too. When you hit something you will like the larger bumpers too. These bumpers were designed for a 5 mph impacts. The bumper mounts have shocks built into them.

Not sure. They told me it had a rod knocking. I was able to turn engine by hand a turn or two and then it stop and I could not turn it anymore. So I am not sure untill I get it tore apart. Hope something simple.

Thanks, they are pretty cool cars. They always get looks when we are driving them around.
